They Film’s CEO, Executive Producer and First-time Director, Vancouver native Gina Hole Lazarowich, has worked in the entertainment industry since the 1980’s, first working as a key makeup artist in both the fashion and film industries, she worked on her first Indie feature film, ‘Quarantine” in 1987. Having also lived and worked in Hollywood as a celebrity makeup artist and enjoyed a 24-year career in makeup in film, celebrity & advertising, in 2004 Gina hung up her brushes to start Western Canada’s very first professional artists and production agency, THEY Produce & Film. Gina has produced photoshoots & videos for worldwide clients such as Variety, Vogue, GQ, American Apparel, ASOS, BBC America, ABC and 20th Century Fox.
Most recently They Film produced, and Gina added Executive Producer to her credits, with the success of her first short film, “TOM and GRANT” directed by and starring Tom Cavanagh, star of hit CW series “The Flash.” The short film went onto win “Best Comedy Short” award at the Manhattan Film Festival and Jersey Shore Festivals, “Audience Favorite” at the Nantucket Film Festival and the winner of 8 top awards at the Short Film Awards in LA, including ‘Best in Show’. Gina handled all aspects of filming production on location, all post production as well as full marketing of the film. They Film’s current project, is the feature-length documentary “Krow’s TRANSformation,” which is both produced, executive produced, 50% of the camera work and debut-directed by Gina, partnering with her Executive Producer Husband (and well respected Film Special Effects Coordinator), Tony Lazarowich, whom have been married over 20 years. The documentary follows the three-year journey of a transgender former ‘female model’ into his true self. Their film was released November of 2019 in Canada on OUTtv (also pending worldwide release) as well was chosen to ‘open’ (a huge honour) the 27th annual Raindance International Film Festival in London in September. It also won “Audience Favorite” at the Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival and won top prize of “Best Documentary” at the Mallorca Spain International Film Festival, with more to come in 2020. They Film is currently in the early stages of developing, researching and writing their first script as well as connecting outside projects for distribution deals worldwide.
