Film was always my passion and I have been writing stories and scripts since I was about 12 years old. Throughout high-school I wrote, directed and edited student films and participated in student festivals, even placing in a few. I attended Capilano University and completed a certificate in Motion Picture Production, and after that, drastically changed career paths. Mostly because I didn't have the self confidence to pursue a career in film and I needed a job and so I put that dream behind me.
I took time to figure out what I wanted to do, while working in the tourism industry. It definitely wasn't for me. I began to work in enforcement and criminal justice roles and completed a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and am finalizing a master's degree in criminal justice. I landed on work within the non-profit animal welfare sector where I have been for 6 years, primarily working in the prevention and enforcement of animal cruelty, creating a passionate animal advocate within me. Working in this field and within law enforcement has helped me work on my self confidence and made me realize that something was missing.
Taking some time off work recently gave me the opportunity to start writing again, and it was like I never stopped. The spark was alive once more and I realized that I just needed time to get to know myself better before I could put everything into being successful in this industry. I know myself now, and my passion is more alive than ever and I am looking to connect with other passionate women to get creative and to make inspiring films.
