With seven years of experience in documentary film-making, Laura has worn many hats and has had the pleasure of working with and interview many inspiring people. Since 2012, Laura has been working as a Co-Founder and Producer of The Earth Network, a media production company with the goal to generate positive social impact. The Earth Network has produced three feature documentary films and a variety of short films. Currently being released is The SKOOL Project, a global media campaign with a mission to transform education and how youth seize their power and voice in society. In collaboration with some of the world’s most impactful social enterprises, The SKOOL Project includes two feature films and a variety of short films. Rollout for this campaign is underway and offers a grassroots platform for youth to lead community events where they can state their opinions and point of views, bring community stakeholders together and inspire a culture shift.
During 2013 to 2015, Laura worked as an Associate Producer, Production Manager and Music Supervisor on The Search for Freedom, a story about living in the moment and doing what makes you feel the most alive. The Search for Freedom was a co-production between The Earth Network, Universal Picture and eOne. Distribution for this film was global, where The Earth Network retained US distribution rights and collaborated with some of the largest sport brands and action sport athletes in the world to help market the film. Distribution included theatrical, film festivals, video-on-demand and community screenings. Laura was a lead communicator for the US distribution and helped to facilitate and host several community screening events. Where, one of the screening events was a fundraiser and successfully raised $40,000 that was donated to an inspiring ocean cleanup initiative. Through these experiences, Laura has seen the power and possibilities in bringing people together through film. With story ideas on the burner, Laura is honored and excited to be a part of the Women in Film community.
