Sonia Gumuchian is a filmmaker from Vancouver, Canada and holds a BFA in Writing for Screen & Television from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. During her time in Los Angeles, Sonia worked at ABC Studios, HBO, the Hallmark Channel, and FOX Broadcasting, where she learned the ropes of creative development. As an entertainment journalist, Sonia has covered red carpets and world premieres, including the Oscars and The Hunger Games, for outlets such as The Fullest Magazine, Neon Tommy, and USC Annenberg Media. Additionally, her scripts have been recognized in international competitions. Her animated comedy pilot, Loyal Royals, was awarded 1st place in The Hollywood Hills Screenplay Competition, was an Official Selection at the Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, Winner at the London Film Awards, LA Film and Script Festival, World Series of Screenwriting, and London International Cinema Festival. Her most recent short film, Home Entertainment had its world premiere at the 2018 Austin Film Festival and is currently on the festival circuit. She has also served as a judge for the 2017 IDA Documentary Awards and 2018 Independent Cinema Showcase in LA.
