Sabrina Furminger

Sabrina Furminger is founder and editor-in-chief of YVR Screen Scene, a digital magazine and podcast celebrating the Vancouver film and television industry. As longtime Reel People columnist for the Westender newspaper, she built up a loyal readership and won awards – a Women in Film & Television Vancouver Spotlight Award in 2016, and a Ma Murray Award in 2017 – for stories that showcased the actors, filmmakers, crew, and creators who populate Vancouver’s dynamic screen scene.

Sabrina has interviewed a who’s who of Canadian and international film and television industry talent, including Amanda Tapping (Stargate SG-1, Sanctuary), Rachel Talalay (Doctor Who), Scott Thompson (The Kids in the Hall), Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek), Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?), Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Nicole Oliver (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), Chris Carter (The X-Files), Commander Chris Hadfield, Peter Mansbridge, Rick Mercer, and the cast of Degrassi Junior High.

Sabrina is a familiar face on industry red carpets, an in-demand moderator and film festival juror (Vancouver International Film Festival and Crazy8s), and a regular guest on Roundhouse Radio 98.3fm, where she’s called upon to champion the homegrown screen scene.
