I am very lucky to be experiencing the career that have I designed. Over the past 18 years I have produced/directed over 1200 minutes of broadcast television on CTV, APTN, BRAVO, and CBC. These productions tell compelling and inspiring stories that matter. After a decade of producing, interviewing, directing and writing, I forayed into on-air hosting. First on a web based vlog and then as host of CTV’s First Story. I enjoyed this position very much.
In 2010, I set out on my own by incorporating Shaka Productions Inc. We started by producing corporate and educational videos but then moved back into broadcast television. The first series I directed independently was the multi-award winning 6x30 Catch the Dream Bios (APTN, CBC). We told amazing people's stories about overcoming seemingly insurmountable barriers, to achieve success.
I have extended this story telling thread with a new 13x30 minute television series for APTN called The Dreamcatcher Biographies. My daily life is filled with writing and directing the biographies of inspirational real life Aboriginal heroes – actors, musicians, astronauts, and professional athletes. Including Wes Studi, Tantoo Cardinal, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas, Tia Carrere, Rita Coolidge and NFL George Starke. This is currently airing in Déne and English on APTN.
I’m serving my forth year on the board of Directors of Vancouver Women in Film and Television – currently I am Vice President.
