Ana de Lara


ANA DE LARA is a Filipina-Canadian film director, producer, and screenwriter. She directed, produced and wrote a number of award-winning short films, most notably: GOOD GIRLS DON’T, NEAR SILENCE, IN CONTROL and FIRST WINTER LAST.

GOOD GIRL’S DON’T, funded by the MPPIA Short Film Award, has won over a dozen festival awards to date, including the Matrix Award at the 2019 Vancouver Women in Film Festival.

NEAR SILENCE, praised in the Montreal Gazette as “striking and highly original” won the Best Short Drama Award at the 2011 Vancouver Women in Film Festival. IN CONTROL earned the Best Children’s Film Award at the Toronto Commffest Festival and FIRST WINTER LAST won the Best Canadian Fiction Award in the CBC RCI Migrations International Film Competition.

De Lara produced the award-winning feature mockumentary and 2020 Best Picture Leo Award nominee OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS, and the Telefilm Talent to Watch feature drama ALL-IN MADONNA.
