Peggy Thompson


Peggy Thompson: Peggy Thompson is the screenwriter and co-producer of the award-winning feature films The Lotus Eaters(winner of 3 Genie Awards including Best Screenplay) and also Better than Chocolate which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival (and was recently listed as one of the 70 top LGBTQ films of all time). She has also written for television – including Da Vinci’s Inquest, Weird Homes and others. In 2015 she was Executive Producer on Sharon McGowan’s documentary Bearded Ladies; the Photography of Rosamond Norbury which premiered at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and is Co-Producer on Mo Simpson’s documentary about Yazidi women and children in Canada struggling with trauma, The Least We Can Do which premiered at Ottawa’s One World Refugee Film Festival. She is an Associate Professor Emerita at UBC where she taught screenwriting in the Creative Writing Program. With filmmaker Ana de Lara she is Co-President of Women in Film and Television Vancouver, where she also works with the writing programs Tricksters and Writers – Screenwriting for Indigenous Women (with Secwepemc/Ktunaxa filmmaker, activist and educator Doreen Manuel) and From Our Dark Side.
