Nya Lewis's MFA hybrid practice is rooted in the culmination of centuries of resistance, love, questions, actions, and study concerning Black Atlantic cultural production. Working across the disciplines of art making, programming, research, curating, and writing, her work is driven by the possibilities of historical recovery and the reimagining of community.
She currently serves as the Interim Artistic Director of the Vancouver Queer Film festival, an RA at the Center for the Study of Black Canadian diaspora, a research fellow at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the incoming Director/Curator of Artspeak gallery.
