Join us for an interview with Swedish filmmaker and activist Helene Granqvist, as she describes her professional journey as a female filmmaker and her role and vision for women in our industry and across the globe, in her current position as President of WIFT International.

In Conversation with Helen Granqvist and Susan Brinton

Helen Granqvist is a Swedish Producer, Director and Screenwriter. Her credits include The Feminist: A Swedish Inspiration , which screened at several International Film Festivals, including in 2019 at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival. . She is actively involved in a variety of social issues and writes regularly on issues of representation, gender equality and power in the Swedish film industry. She is the chair of the board of directors of WIFT Sweden and the President of the board of directors of WIFT International.

Susan Brinton has over three decades of senior level management and consulting experience in Canadian film and television policy and industry analysis, with experience ranging from the Canadian private broadcasting sector to federal public agencies. She also recently led producer-focused international export development initiatives for the CMPA-BC.

Susan was an early Board member of Women in Film + TV Vancouver (WIFTV) and has been a vital leader in many of its successful advocacy initiatives as Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee. She also sits on the Board of Women in Film and TV International (WIFTI) and is a member of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications (CRTC) Women in Production Steering Committee.
