Join us on Tuesday, October 15th for our latest #WIFTVCOFFEECHATS! Carmen Pollard will be discussing her inspiration for genre bending films that tell fascinating stories which engage, educate, and impact audiences. She brings a combined twenty years’ experience as a director, creative producer, story & picture editor and visual effects artist—in fiction, experimental and documentary film. Her award winning work has been broadcast throughout North America, has screened theatrically, on Netflix, and at festivals worldwide.
Carmen was the editor and creative director for post, on the award winning NFB feature Ninth Floor—which premiered at TIFF, and was selected for their 2015 Top Ten. She wrote and directed the Knowledge Network feature For Dear Life which screened internationally, to sold out audiences and was nominated for Best Social/Political Documentary at the 2018 Yorkton Film Festival. Carmen is often called to work as a creative consultant for the NFB, and on independent documentary productions. Most recently, she consulted on The World is Bright premiering at VIFF 2019, and Because We Are Girls, which premiered at Hot Docs and opened DOXA. Currently she’s writing, directing and producing Dancehalls, Deejays & Distortion—a history series of shorts built mostly from archival. This commission is for the Knowledge Network 150 project.
For professional filmmakers, producers, directors, screenwriters, actors and everyone who wants to know more about the industry, #WIFTVCoffeeChats are often a great way to meet a variety of different people in the film and television community in Vancouver. It is also a wonderful opportunity to generate some buzz around your work as you will have a chance to introduce yourself and your upcoming projects.
