WIFTV is pleased to offer Tricksters and Writers in Vernon and Kamloops.
Tricksters and Writers is a screenwriting program for Indigenous women. The purpose of the program is to increase the participation of Indigenous women in key creative positions within the film industry and screen-based media arts community.
The program is implemented over three phases.
Four two days workshops will be held, rotating between Vernon and Kamloops. Further venue details will be provided soon.
Workshop dates are April 27th and 28th, June 15th and 16th and two further weekends in the fall.
Workshops will provide screenwriting instruction, discussion, film viewing as well as reading aloud from each other's works in progress.
Lunch is provided each day.
Three to five writers and their scripts in progress will be selected for Phase Two which offers a one on one story editing session with a professional Indigenous story editor.
Three to five writers and their scripts will be selected to participate in workshops where professional actors and a director or story editor will workshop the script.
Eligibility, Travel and Accommodation
The program is for Indigenous women living in the Vernon and Kamloops area. When the workshops are in the Vernon area, limited travel and accommodation subsidies are available to those living in or near Kamloops. When the workshops are in Kamloops, limited travel and accommodation subsidies are available to those living in or near Vernon.
All those who are eligible are welcome to attend providing you commit to attending all four workshops, that you register and that you submit a brief description of the film project you'd like to write.

Your project description should be at least one paragraph but not longer than three pages. It may be for a short or feature film or a web series. It may be fiction or documentary. Email your project description by April 22, 2019 to Jessie Anthony at email@example.com.
