A pitch session is a 10 minute one-on-one non-public session that is conducted in an open room in a "speed dating" style.

Please ensure that the person to whom you are pitching relates to your project. Before signing up, do your research, both on the company to whom you want to pitch and on the pitch professional associated with that company. Make sure it’s a good fit.

To sign up for a pitch session, click on Register now above where you will be able to select one of the companies below to whom to pitch your project. Once you have submitted your first request you may select another company by clicking on the Register now  button again under Purchase another ticket - or Scroll forward to "Finish Registration". 
 
Prior to the pitching day, you will receive a confirmation email indicating the exact time of your pitch session(s) between 12:00 and 3:00 on Friday March 10th.

Brightlight Pictures - FULL

Launched in 2001, Brightlight Pictures develops, packages, and produces independent feature films and television projects.

Brightlight developed, packaged, and produced MR. HOCKEY: THE GORDIE HOWE STORY in partnership with Inferno Pictures and Baldwin Entertainment for the CBC and Hallmark Channel. Other feature producing credits include THE POSSESSION (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick) for Mandate Pictures and Lions Gate Films, WHITE NOISE 2: THE LIGHT (Nathan Fillion, Katee Sackhoff), IN THE NAME OF THE KING (Jason Statham), 88 MINUTES (Al Pacino), WICKER MAN (Nicolas Cage), SLITHER with Gold Circle Films and Universal, and APOLLO 18 for the Weinstein Company.

Brightlight also produced POSSESSION (Sarah Michelle Gellar) for the Yari Film Group, PASSENGERS (Anne Hathaway) for Mandate Pictures, and the feature film FAR CRY, based on the video game of the same name.
Brightlight's television credits include the series WITCHES OF EAST END (Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan- Tatum) for Lifetime/Fox 21, RUSH (Tom Ellis) for USA/Fox 21, SAVED for TNT and Fox 21, ABOUT A GIRL for MTV's The N Network and Global Television, and SEARCH AND RESCUE with Global and distributed by Lions Gate, season one of which was the highest rated Canadian dramatic series in the spring of 2008. Brightlight also produced the CTV/Space Channel series STORMWORLD, an Australian/Singaporean/Canadian Treaty Co- production shot in Perth, Broome, Singapore and Vancouver.

Brightlight's UK/Canada feature co-production FIFTY DEAD MEN WALKING (Ben Kingsley, Jim Sturgess, Kevin Zegers) had its world premiere as a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2008 and was released theatrically in the summer of 2009. Brightlight also produced FRANKIE & ALICE (Halle Berry, Stellan Skarsgard) and the feature film GUNLESS, a comedy western co-produced with Rhombus Media and distributed by Alliance films, starring Paul Gross, Sienna Guillory and Graham Greene.

Arielle Boisvert - DIRECTOR, PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Arielle Boisvert is a graduate of Capilano University’s Motion Picture Production Program and has been with Brightlight since 2013. As Director of Production and Development, Arielle brings almost a decade of production experience to her position at Brightlight having worked with both independent and major studios such as Fox, Disney, Sony, and Voltage.

Last year Arielle served as co-producer on the feature film COLOSSAL (Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis) and producer on the biopic independent feature LITTLE PINK HOUSE (Catherine Keener, Jeanne Tripplehorn), and the documentary series EASTSIDE STORIES. Most recently, Arielle executive produced the feature film STATUS UPDATE (Ross Lynch), and produced the series HATERS BACK OFF(Colleen Ballinger, Steve Little) for Netflix.

Jameson Parker - DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Jameson Parker is a producer, director, and award-winning actor who started Whiskaye Films with David Kaye while attending The University of British Columbia’s BFA in Acting Program.
He has directed music videos for local and international artists and his video for Fake Shark Real Zombie’s single Girls can be seen on Much Music. In 2014 he directed THE PRICE IS PRECISE, a sketch written by 3 time Canadian Comedy Award Winning sketch duo Peter N’ Chris for internet comedy giant CollegeHumor.
On film he can be seen in THE PARTY NEVER STOPS (Lifetime Television), and as a lead in Terry Miles’ upcoming film EVEN LAMBS HAVE TEETH.

In 2015, he served as an Associate Producer on the made-for-TV-movie THE MECHANICS OF LOVE for Pixl starring Shanae Grimes and Tyler Hynes.

Currently Jameson is an Executive Producer on WHITE NINJA, the first narrative series developed for Vine, starring Paul Scheer, as well as directing 5 episodes for the series. He is also producing and story editing the half hour sketch comedy pilot THE PETER N' CHRIS SHOW with Don Ferguson Productions that is currently in network development with Paul F. Tompkins attached as a Creative Consultant. Most recently he completed photography on Whiskaye Films’ first feature film: PRODIGALS, on which he produces and stars alongside David Alpay, Sara Canning, Tiio Horn, and Brian Markinson.

Nicole Lawson is the Director of Development at Force Four Entertainment, and manages projects from conception to green light. She joined the company in 2007, and works closely with independent producers, writers, and her in-house team to shape and pitch new TV series to Canadian, American and international broadcasters.

Some of the Force Four productions currently on air include the innovative fixed-rig documentary series First Dates Canada for Global, the critically acclaimed medical documentary series Keeping Canada Alive for CBC, and the extremely popular Border Security: Canada’s Frontline for Global. In the fall of 2016 our hidden camera series Tricked will air on YTV. 

Before dedicating herself full time to development, Nicole worked in production on series such as Making It Big for Slice, Take It Outside for HGTV and Tube Tales for TVtropolis. She has a degree in journalism from Ryerson University and a degree in psychology from UBC.

Nicole is looking for factual entertainment pitches.  She’s always looking for worlds, characters, and special access. She is also looking for ideas that people feel would fit with a certain broadcaster as well as for for genres across the board.  

Tim Brown
 
Tim Brown has over 23 years in global distribution of feature films. Tim Started Joker in 2009 and currently has a focus on solely directing and producing. Timhas produced/Executive produced over 25 features and directed 3. Tim is currently in development on 5 features to be shot in 2017.

Patrice Ramsay

Patrice Ramsay is the Coordinator of Independent Production at Knowledge Network.  She helps bring original Knowledge Network commissions to a BC audience. Recent examples include Emergency Room: Life and Death at VGH, Just Eat It, and Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World .  She is also responsible for the budget for all independent production at Knowledge and manages Knowledge’s Broadcaster Performance Envelope from the Canada Media Fund.  She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from BCIT and recently earned The Osgood Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgood Hall Law School of York University.

Although I am open to any genres, the ones that "sell" most around the world are: family audience, thriller, unusual yet universal indie stories that attract profile actors.

Prior to MCE, Marina Cordoni worked for various entertainment companies including the film division of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, where she handled pre-sales and completed picture sales in various foreign territories on major independent hits including '4 Weddings and a Funeral', 'Dead Man Walking', 'Fargo' and 'Sleepers'.

National Film Board of Canada

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) creates social-issue documentaries, auteur animation, and digital content from a uniquely Canadian perspective. The NFB’s Digital Studio works with a wide range of artists and media-makers interested in experimenting with the creative application of digital technologies and interactivity as it relates to story, expression and community. In practise, this includes digital video shorts, interactive documentaries, virtual reality and 360 video, mobile and locative media, interactive animations, photographic art and essays, data visualizations, physical installations, community media, interactive video, user-generated media, etc.

Nicholas Klassen

Nicholas Klassen is an Interactive Producer with the NFB's Digital Studio. Drawing from over a decade of experience creating and producing online content for the social and cultural sector, he works with filmmakers, writers and artists to produce interactive storytelling projects that push the boundaries of story, form and platform.

Prior to his work at the NFB, he co-founded the creative and online strategy agency Biro Creative, where he advised leading movement-building organizations like Greenpeace, WWF, and Avaaz.org on a number of Webby-award winning and -nominated projects. He has also served as Senior Editor at Adbusters, overseeing editorial and online content for the acclaimed and globally-recognized magazine.

Teri Snelgrove

Teri Snelgrove is a Newfoundlander. She is a graduate of the film/video program at Emily Carr Institute (now University).  She currently works as an Associate Producer at the BC & Yukon Studio of The National Film Board of Canada where she has worked on many documentaries including “Debris”, “Bone Wind Fire”, “Crazywater” and the interactive project, “Bread”. Most recently, she finished working with Christopher Auchter on the NFB animation “The Mountain of SGaana”, and with Marie Clements on the documentary “The Road Forward”. Teri is currently working on a handful of projects that are in post-production including Christina Willings’ “Beauty”, and development.  Before landing at the NFB in 2006, Teri worked as a freelance director and producer on projects such as In Her Footsteps (Celebrating BC Women in Sport) an interactive video installation on permanent display at the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, Jan Derbyshire’s short film “Sanity for Beginners”, and Marie Clements’ “Jesus was an Indian”.  Prior to working in film and video, Teri worked in interdisciplinary theatre in a variety of capacities for over a decade as a producer and director. In her spare time, Teri is currently working on her Master’s Degree at SFU in Liberal Studies. She has always enjoyed traversing the edges, as long as heights aren’t involved.

Paul Armstrong

Paul Armstrong is an award-winning Vancouver film, television and theatre producer.

Paul is the founder, programmer and producer of The Celluloid Social Club, a monthly screening of short films since 1997. Paul is also the Executive Director of Crazy8s, the 8 day short filmmaking founded in 1999. He also occasionally event produces for The First Weekend Club, which promotes the release of Canadian feature films.

Feature film credits include 'Lawrence & Holloman' based on the play by Morris Panych, written by Daniel Arnold & Matthew Kowalchuk, and directed by Kowalchuk. Among other awards the film won Best Feature at the 2014 Canadian Comedy Awards; 'Moving Malcolm' by Benjamin Ratner starring Elizabeth Berkley ('Showgirls'); the Genie Award nominated 'See Grace Fly' by Pete McCormack and 'Ill-Fated' starring Peter Outerbridge, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and in the US at Slamdance. He is currently in production on the documentary 'Revolution, The Legacy of the Sixties'.

Short film credits include the record breaking 13 Leo Award winning 'Anxious Oswald Greene' by Marshall Axani, 'The Money Pet' featuring Alan Cumming ('The Good Wife'), 'Monster' & 'Everything's Coming up Rosie' starring Jodelle Ferland ('Twilight') & Ian Tracey, 'The Bar' starring Peter Deluise ('21 Jump Street'), 'Break a Leg, Rosie' starring Carly Pope ('Popular') & Ian Tracey, and 'Mon amour mon parapluie' with cameos by William Gibson & Douglas Coupland.

Paul has also produced TV commercials with Adplay Media for WirelessWave, produced music videos for Bif Naked, Jim Byrnes, Jessie Farrell and Jeff Martin of the Tea Party and produced 20 plays, from Shakespeare to Ibsen to Mamet.

Liz Levine

Liz is an award winning producer, former journalist and transmedia ideator. Liz has produced a number of feature films including Kyra Sedgwick’s forthcoming directorial debut STORY OF GIRL.From fiction to nonfiction, Liz is a natural storyteller whose contributions span multiple platforms and genres and include the television series JPOD and the award-winning feature film TOAD ROAD.
 
Combining her master’s degree in journalism with her years as a development executive, Levine marries her strong sense of story with the practical skills of production derived from years as both a 1st AD and line producer.
 
Liz oversees the creative, fiscal and temporal stewardship of a given project ensuring that it moves smoothly from idea to actuality — on schedule and on budget. Levine has overseen physical production on Random Bench’s feature films as well as film, television and commercial productions for a variety of clients and brands. 

France Perras

France Perras is a creator by nature. An actress, first and foremost, she has been seen on the L Word, Battlestar Galactica and numerous other Vancouver productions.  She is a recipient of two Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards in the Outstanding Performance category. When not on stage, or on screen, France can be found behind the microphone voicing some of the biggest brands in the country in both English and French.

France is also a producer and a creative gatherer. She has started festivals, websites and theatre collectives and is constantly trying to find ways to connect people through art. She is an associate artist with Working Spark Theatre, on the board of directors of Some Assembly Theatre Society, as well as 2par4 Productions. She has recently partnered with Liz Levine of Random Bench Productions to create NMFG – a production company positioned to take advantage of the outstanding local talent pool in Vancouver.

Elizabeth Yake
 
Elizabeth Yake is President of True West Films based on the west coast of Canada. As producer, her films have been nominated for 19 Genie / CSA Awards and each of her features and shorts have premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Films/TV include Pilgrims, Everything's Gone Green, It's All Gone Pete Tong, Miss Texas. TWF focuses on structuring international co-productions for the world market. Elizabeth mostly recently completed the feature docu-drama Hadwin's Judgement based on the story of The Golden Spruce in co-production with the NFB and Passion Pictures, UK, Oscar winners 2013 for Searching for Sugar Man. She is currently directing the feature Doc The Board Game Movie a co-production with Germany.
