Program

Cadence 88 min; 2016
Director: Alexander Lasheras (Cineworks)
Producers: Nicolas Ayerbe Barona and Arun Fryer (Cineworks)

When spending a romantic getaway with her pop-star boyfriend, Cadence experiences nightmare scenarios that will test her reality and self-identity. Cadence’s psyche is as fragmented as the film itself in this debut feature by local BC filmmaker Alexander Lasheras, which won the Audience Must-See-Award at VIFF 2016. Curtis Woloschuk says: “this is a thoroughly entertaining and remarkably tense rumination on memory, trauma, and the psyche’s efforts to protect itself.”

The Lake (El Lago); 4 minutes 20 secs; 2016
Director/Writer/Producer: Jennifer Nicole Stang (WIFTV)

The Lake is a fantasy/new world/spiritual short film about finding oneself through all the chaos and difficulty of the outside world. A dream about a lake and the discovery within. A meditation on spirit.

This is a short film that Jennifer wrote, directed, and produced in 2012. It has travelled the festival circuit in the United States and abroad (Raindance WebFest, Sedona International Film Festival, Miami WebFest, etc.) and has won a number of awards, including Best Fantasy Film at the Mexico International Film Festival and 1st place at the Honolulu Film Awards.

Strange Things Done; 2 min 8 sec; 2016
Director: Elle Wild (WIFTV)

This is a book trailer that will eventually be used to help pitch the book as a film.

Elle Wild won the Arthur Ellis Award 2015 for Best Unpublished First Crime Novel for Strange Things Done, and was shortlisted in multiple contests.
