January 17 - 18, 2015
The Retrospective takes place Saturday, January 17th and Sunday, January 18th, 2015 at SFU Woodward’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts at 149 West Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver.
Curated by Maureen Levitt, the retrospective is a careful selection of documentary and short films directed by BC women over the past twenty-five years. It leans towards works with strong female leads who define themselves in opposition to a dominant norm – be it social, political, familial or cultural. In these struggles, women demonstrate a strength and vibrancy that will inspire us, today, reflecting positive strategies as we move forward.
