August's guest speakers will be a writers' panel:
Award-winning screenwriter Joan Macbeth has been the VIWIFF Screenplay Competition Coordinator since 2016 and currently has a short film "Honestly Charlotte," which she co-wrote and produced, making the rounds of festivals. Michelle Muldoon is an award-winning writer and director, and the founder of the VIWIFF Screenplay Competition. She teaches screenwriting for Raindance Vancouver and her short film "Last Stand to Nowhere" is in pre-production. Anita Reilly McGee is a multiple award-winning writer-director who was an official selection for the 2017 VIWIFF Screenplay Competition. She currently works as a script supervisor in Vancouver and recently executive-produced the short film "Good Girls Donít." Kelly Tatham has been a member of the VIWIFF Screenplay Competition jury since inception. A graduate of Vancouver Film School's screenwriting program, her most recent project is the short film "Multiverse Dating for Beginners."
The panel will discuss various aspects of screenwriting - from how to get started in the craft, to breaking into the biz, getting representation, producing your own material, advancing your career, and what entering writing competitions can do for you.
