This year’s virtual festival showcased an international lineup of short- and feature-length films, from narrative and documentary to experimental and animation—celebrating the complexity and diversity of ways girls and women choose to challenge, overcome, and inspire—themselves, each other, their communities, and our world today.
Produced annually by Women in Film and Television Vancouver, VIWFF 2021 is proud to showcase a majority of women filmmakers and creatives, including the stories and voices of Canadian and international Black, Indigenous and Women of Colour, Women with Disabilities, LGBTQ2++ Women, and Gender Diverse people in an international, multi-genre selection of 6 feature films and 26 shorts, from 16 countries. VIWFF 2021 also hosts an International Women’s Day panel, a genre panel, a Screenplay Competition Finalist artist talk, table reads of script excerpts from its Tricksters and Writers Indigenous writing program, a Digital Marketing workshop, and the Best of the Fest awards announcements.
All films available on demand March 4 – 14, 2021, via VIFF Connect and can be watched internationally. A prerecorded Virtual Artist Talk with the filmmakers is included with each film program you watch on VIFF Connect. Purchase single-program tickets, or a pass to see all 6 features and 26 shorts. Once you start watching a film program, you will have 48 hours to finish watching.
Our livestream panels, workshop, artist talk, table reads, and Best of the Fest awards announcements are hosted on Zoom and are free of charge.
