The Vancouver International Women in Film Festival is pleased to award the top three BC films in the festival with a Matrix Award, presented by Matrix Production Services.

The Matrix Award-winning films were screened at the Closing Night Awards ceremony on March 8th. The Matrix Awards were presented along with the Best of the Festival Awards, the winner of the VIWIFF International Screenplay Competition, and the winners of the 6th From Our Dark Side Genre Contest.

All awards were chosen by an independent jury of industry professionals. This year's jury included Meghan Hemingway - Writer/Actor; Brianna Rayner – Actor; Marena Dix - Producer/Post Production Coordinator.

The three Matrix Award Winning films for achievement in a BC short are:

WHO AM I directed by Adhel Arop

THE EVENING THREAD directed by Iris Moore


"The jury loved the visual depiction of the transitions of life and the relationship between the generations. The concept is simple and speaks to things we think children won’t understand. While watching we realize that life and death hold hands and see they aren’t so far apart."

NOW IS THE TIME directed by Christopher Auchter
