A moderated panel discussion providing an opportunity for emerging media artists and professionals to share questions and experiences. The panelists will address the recent evolution of distribution models for independent media works. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the panel discussion, as well as to network with each other over lunch.

CAROL WHITEMAN, Moderator Winner of the 2012 Spotlight Woman of the Year Award, a two-time Governor General’s Award-nominee and screen industry award-winner for promoting women’s equality and mentoring talent in Canada, Carol is a co-creator of Women In the Director’s Chair program (WIDC). Through her work in lobbying government and the industry, facilitating workshop sessions, providing personal coaching, publishing the annual WIDC newsletter and administering the WIDC awards and fellowships, Carol has proven herself to be a game changer. |

TIM BROWN, Panelist President and CEO of Joker Films, Tim has over 17 years in the film distribution business, starting with Malofilm Distribution in 1993. He was the National Sales Manager for TVA (formally Astral Distribution) for 5 years and spent 6 years with Keystone Distribution as VP Worldwide Sales and 2 years with Insight Releasing as President of its distribution business. |

All of Legacy’s productions are financially profitable and have been distributed worldwide, partnering successfully with private investors, networks and studios. Legacy’s films have garnered four Emmys, a George F. Peabody Award, a DGA Award, a Lifetime Prism Award, a Movie Guide Award and numerous film festival awards.

KAREN LAM, Panelist An independent filmmaker, Karen Lam is also the founder of Curio Media, a digital media and entertainment company that promotes and distributes carefully curated film, television, art and web series created by female filmmakers and artists focusing primarily on horror, sci-fi, and dark fantasy genres. |
