WIFTV Networking Breakfast with DEBORAH PATZ
Date: Sep 21, 2010
Time: 8:15 AM - 9:30 AM
Place: 4124 Main Street at 25th Avenue, Vancouver BC
Host: Deb Sears at The Grind and Gallery Coffee Bar
TOPIC: FILM PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT 101 - WHAT THE CREW (AND PM's) NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRODUCTION BUDGETS
Free for WIFTV members – $10 for non-members (admission only) No pre-registration necessary. Everyone Welcome!
The PM may write the budget and monitor cost reports, but it’s the whole crew who is spending production’s money. Deborah Patz, author of “Film Production Management 101”, will share essential information that the crew (and PM’s) should know about production budgeting… and spending. She’ll cover what’s creative about the PM’s job, budget hot spots, why the PM hangs out on the set, and will also discuss career planning your way to – or past – production management.
“Film Production Management 101” is two books in one - a detailed insider’s guide for production managers and another one for coordinators. With an entertaining nuts-n-bolts approach Deb Patz takes you on a journey from prep to post and even on to the audit. The second edition (“Management & Coordination in a Digital Age”) is coming to market in early fall of 2010, published worldwide by Michael Wiese Productions.
Deborah S. Patz has been a filmmaker since the mid-80s, earning a diverse production background from Hollywood-funded science fiction to super-low budget features, from IMAX 3D and movies shot in space to music videos and interactive digital stories. Based in Canada, she has shot in many countries around the world from Russia to New Zealand. She has worked in many aspects of the film and television industry, most especially in production management and supervision.
We look forward to seeing you on September 21st!
