WILLIAM F. WHITE PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT MENTORSHIP FOR THE INDEPENDENT PRODUCER

Women in Film and Television Vancouver and William F. Whiteare pleased to open the call for applications to the 2017 Production Management Mentorship. The mentorship is designed for the independent producer who is interested in increasing her knowledge of Production Management including the ins and outs of equipment requirements and rentals as well as budgeting and resource planning for both low and high budget shows.

Program Curriculum

The menteewill visit William F. Whitethree times over the course of one week for four hour informational sessions. The focus of these sessions will be on budgeting with an emphasis on lighting equipment and its uses and costs. The mentee will learn how to select affordable rental packages to achieve higher budget lighting results, how to recognize padded orders from crew, and how to think about lighting efficiently. The mentee will also spend time in each department developing a clear understanding of how the rental market operates.

A professional production manager will be matched with the mentee for approximately six to eight hours of instruction that can be broken up over two to three sessions. The mentee will prepare for these sessions with specific questions or learning goals she hopes to achieve.

Those interested in applying must have on set experience on a minimum of two short films (corporate and or industrial included). The participant will be selected based on how well the mentorship serves them at this time in their career.

To apply, please register above, pay the $30 registration fee and send, via email, in one pdf, your resume and a detailed letter explaining: why you want to participate in this mentorship program; how your previous experience prepares you for it; and what you hope to have achieved by the end of the mentorship experience. Letters should be a maximum of two pages and applications should be sent to office@womeninfilm.ca.

Applicants must be associate, professional or executive members in good standing of WIFTV at the time of application and for the duration of the program. The selected participant must be able to complete the program by September 2017.

Applications are due by November 28, 2016 by 5pm.
Applicants will be notified of the results by mid January.
