MC'd by WIFTV Vice-President Kate Green, these will be informative and interesting presentations from some of the leading companies in the media industry in Vancouver, including: 12:00 noon | Wired Woman Society: Dina Grskovich, Board Member and Mentorship Program Manager for the Wired Woman Society will discuss the importance and positive impact that mentoring relationships have in business, and the special role these relationships play in fostering constructive change and growth in our high tech community. 12:05 pm | UBC Film Program: Sharon McGowan, Associate Head of the UBC Department of Theatre and Film, will speak about the importance of relationship-building over the course of one's career in screen-based storytelling. The UBC Film Production Program celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year. 12:15 pm | Line 21 Media Services: Over the past 16 years, Line 21 has worked with the best Post Coordinators and Producers in the business. Kelly Maxwell will talk about some of the services they provide, from closed captioning and subtitling, to custom post-production scripting and transcription. 12:25 pm | Fast Forward Coaching: Deborah Gillam-Harry, Professional Entertainment Coach for Film and TV professionals. Coaching the business side of the entertainment industry. Deborah is a 24 year industry veteran, previous owner and agent of Deborah Harry Talent were she represented regularly working actors, writers and directors. Deborah will be sharing how she has put her knowledge into action in assisting the entertainment community to help them mover their careers forward in the most effective way possible to get the opportunities they deserve. 12:35 pm | Rukkus House: Gael MacLean & Graig Robertson will present Collaborative Partnerships in a Mutli-platformed Media Environment: Film & TV Producers converge with Digital Content Creators. New Canada Media guidelines are now mandating that traditional forms of content production roll out a interactive digital component as well. This includes mobile, games, animation, social media and the web. Collaborative Partnerships between traditional producers, digital content creators and creative & technical service providers is a way to create competitive, original interactive digital plans with significant potential for commercial sales in the domestic and international marketplace. Rukkus House has been successfully developing this business model for over a year and will discuss the various options open to content creators to work locally for the global market. 12:50 pm | Image Engine: Stefanie Boose, Visual Effects Producer. Using District 9 as a case study, Stefanie will discuss taking on a Hollywood-sized project with a boutique-sized infrastructure. Highlights include the bidding and recruiting processes and the advantages of working with co-vendors. Image Engine provides world-class visual effects for feature films.
